Swedish Massage Diploma Course
New Dates Just Announced
The Swedish Massage diploma course is a professionally accredited qualification which runs for 8 months over 8 weekends. Home study and practical study including case studies are required. If you are looking for a change of career, an additional therapy or looking to learn something new and exciting then this is the course for you. As soon as you graduate from Falkirk Massage School with your Diploma in Swedish Massage you can go straight into practice and use the letters DSM after your name.
Graduates from this course can then apply for the Remedial Sports Massage Diploma course, the Clinical Aromatherapy Diploma course or the Reflexology Diploma course, all taught by Scottish Massage Schools.
A First Aid course and certificate are also included as part of the Swedish Massage Diploma course.

Course requirements
Attend 120 hours of training over 8 weekends as stipulated by the General Council of Massage Therapy, the lead body for the profession
Complete home assignments and practice the practical skills learned at each weekend
Attain the required standard passing the final written and practical examinations
Have the attitude and professionalism required for a Massage Therapist.

Entry Qualifications
The Diploma in Swedish Massage is an entry-level course and no formal educational qualifications or previous experience are required. However, students should have basic proficiency in English language. Lots of enthusiasm is also helpful!
Assessment and affiliation
Award of the diploma is based on:
Continuous assessment throughout the course
Home study
Final written, oral, and practical examinations
The completion of formal case studies.
This course is affiliated to the Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation (SMTO). Graduates are invited to join the SMTO.
On Site Massage Diploma Course
The On Site Massage diploma course is a professionally accredited qualification which runs for 4 days over two weekends; from 8.30am - 5.00pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
Home study and practical study including case studies are required. If you are looking for an additional therapy, more massage techniques or looking to learn something new and exciting then this is the course for you.

The On Site Massage Diploma course is run by Lorna Forrester DIR DCA RMT DOSM SMTO and Sara Priestly DARM DOSM SMTO.
Lorna is Programme Manager for Energetics and runs a team of therapists on a day-to-day basis co-ordinating events and corporate wellbeing programmes. Lorna is a fully trained in Indian Head Massage, Therapeutic Massage, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Deep Tissue Massage and On-Site Chair Massage. She has recently completed her Teaching Qualification (Further Education) and currently lectures with Scottish Massage Schools.
Sara Priestly DARM DOSM SMTO is a qualified advanced remedial massage therapist working from her own clinic and a number of corporate sites. She works for the Lothian School and Falkirk Massage School teaching on the Swedish Masage, Remedial Massage and On-Site Massage diploma courses. Sara has recently completed her Teaching Qualification (Further Education).

Course Requirements
Qualified Physical Therapists who have the appropriate level of anatomy & physiology training and knowledge; and Diploma in and working knowledge of, for example, Swedish Massage, Clinical Aromatherapy, Reflexology.
Course Content
The subjects include:
On-Site Massage - its origin
On-Site Massage - safety aspects practise
On-Site Massage - practical application
Home study, practise and case studies form part of the Diploma course.
On-Site Massage will provide the practitioner with a medium of massage that will increase clientele as well as taking skills to new levels. Increased flexibility and versatility combined with effective marketing should expand the practice. The Seated Massage Therapy sequence (which is performed through the clothes) will assist in giving people, who might not normally have considered Massge Therapy, the opportunity to experience the many benefit
