The name SUMO was chosen because of Susan Mollison’s name – su for susan and mo for mollison. When Susan researched the word sumo she was delighted to find that sumo wrestlers were originally part of a Japanese religion derived from Buddhism called Shinto.

The main guideline the followers try to promote is “living a simple harmonious life with nature and people”. When Susan thinks about the sumo wrestler she imagines a person who is strong, energetic and full of life, this is how she would like to promote all people working at Sumo and the clinic itself.
